NPFL Matchday Preview: Home Advantage and Low-Scoring Trends
Home teams dominate the Nigeria Premier Football League. We look at the numbers behind it and what it means for this weekend's tips.

Home teams dominate the Nigeria Premier Football League. Long journeys, tough pitches and loud home crowds make away points rare.
The home factor
Historically, home sides win well over half of NPFL matches, and away wins are among the rarest in any league we cover. That makes 1X one of the most reliable markets in Nigerian football.
Low-scoring by nature
- Under 2.5 goals lands in the majority of fixtures
- 1-0 and 0-0 are the most common scorelines
- BTTS No is a strong default, especially for top-half home sides
What to watch this matchday
Look for home sides with at least two wins in their last three at home, against teams that have lost their last two away. Combine 1X with under 3.5 for a safer accumulator leg.
Check team news late. NPFL squads rotate often, and fixture dates can shift at short notice.
